How to create Templates for the Hospital and General Anesthesia (GA) Charts

A template can act as a guide to hospital treatment plans e.g. parvovirus, FLUTD cats, HGE, vomiting dog or anesthesia protocols e.g.standard low risk anesthesia protocols, high risk protocols, brachycephalic breed protocols etc. By creating templates you will not only ensure standards of car are met, you will also improve team efficiency by reducing the number of clicks required to set a team action. Templates for both hospial and anesthesia charts can be created within the Preference menu under settings. If you cannot access these, it may mean that your account has been restricted and only your admin user can edit these.

Steps:

  • Login to Vetcheck on a Chrome browser

  • Select Preference menu in the top left hand corner of VetCheck

  • Select Settings

  • Click on the TEMPLATES tab - Scroll down to GA Chart Templates and Hospital Chart Templates.

Create New Template

  1. Click on the + Med/Item button to the relevant section - add something from your existing inventory list or manually enter a task. Enter the relevant details and then click "ADD"
  2. Once you are happy with the protocol/template, simply click on the 3 horizontal dots and select "Save new template" and enter the name
  3. This will then appear in the charts as template

Customise Fields In The Monitoring Grid

By toggling on and off to control the fields in the monitoring grid.

Update Template

  1. From the "Select chart template" drop down menu
  2. Make any edits by adding new meds/items
  3. To delete an item/task, simply click on the item and select the checkbox DELETE in the bottom left hand corner and click UPDATE
  4. This will then appear in the charts as template

Please note that when updating a template you cannot change the name of the template. You are best to save as a new template and then delete the old one

Templates with Scheduling

There are 2 ways to schedule a task in the hospital charts.

  1. 1. Pre-loading the schedule within the hospital charts from a template - this must be created in the settings.
  2. 2. Adding an ad-hoc alert in the chart task itself.

When scheduled in the template, it will automatically load the task intervals when the templateis launched within a live hospital chart.

Admin Function

If your clinic is part of a group of clinics, one clinic typically has admin access, which means any templates put into the admin account will be shared across all clinics.

Please note that clinics other than the admin will NOT be able to edit the admin's templates. These clinics must build their own templates within the VetCheck settings menu.
